BIOGRAPHY
Elda Peralta, native of Tijuana, Mexico, is known for her versatility in singing and teaching classical and commercial music styles. She is an experienced worship leader and songwriter, having worked as the Director of Worship & Music at First Presbyterian Church of Evanston from 2014-2017, and has lead worship and composed songs for the churches she has attended throughout her life. Peralta has been featured with many ensembles ranging from jazz quartets and big bands to “rondallas,” and in recitals and concerts from baroque to Mexican folk music styles.
As a lyric mezzo-soprano, she has performed as a soloist with the Chicago Arts Orchestra, La Jolla Symphony & Chorus, the Orquesta de Baja California, Opera de Tijuana, the Aspen Opera Theater Center, Castleton Artists Training Seminar, and at Northwestern University. She has been the recipient of numerous awards, among those, 1st place in the graduate division of NATS Chicago Chapter in 2009, Evanston Music Club Competition in 2010, and the Opera Idol Competition in Evanston, IL. As a professional chorister, she has performed with the San Diego Opera Chorus, Grant Park Music Festival, Lyric Opera Chorus, and was a member of the prestigious Chicago Symphony Chorus from 2011 to 2017.
In November of 2012, Ms. Peralta had the honor to perform with San Antonio's own Ensemble Settecento in the 3rd Viceregal Music Festival of the Cathedral of Durango, Mexico, organized by the Institute of Culture of the State of Durango. This concert featured recently discovered works written for the Cathedral at the time of the New Spain. Most of the works performed had not been played in over 200 years and it was a joy to bring this music to life once again. In November of 2017, she performed these same works at the Metropolitan Cathedral and Sala Nezahualcóyotl of the Autonomous University of Mexico in Mexico City for the XV Anniversary of the Mexico City-based “Musicat” project, the Seminario de Música en la Nueva España y el México Independiente (Seminar on the Music of New Spain and Independent Mexico).
Ms. Peralta has taught singing for over 15 years and is an Part-Time Professor of Voice at Point Loma Nazarene University. She lives in San Diego and enjoys spending time with her husband and kids.

Elda Peralta, originaria de la ciudad de Tijuana, Baja California, México, es conocida por su versatilidad como cantante y maestra de canto en el ámbito clásico y en música comercial. Su experiencia incluye más de 20 años como líder de alabanza y cantautora, incluyendo su tiempo como Directora de Alabanza en First Presbyterian Church del 2014 al 2017. También, ha dirigido música de alabanza y compuesto canciones para las iglesias de las cuales ha formado parte a través de los años. Se ha presentado con múltiples ensambles y conjuntos desde cuartetos y grandes bandas de jazz hasta rondallas, y en recitales y conciertos ha colaborado con pianistas, guitarristas, y con orquestas interpretando una amplia variedad de música desde la época barroca hasta música popular mexicana.
Como solista y mezzo-soprano lírica, ha participado con la Chicago Arts Orchestra, la Orchestra of New Spain, La Jolla Symphony & Chorus, la Orquesta de Baja California, la Opera de Tijuana, el Aspen Opera Theater Center, el Castleton Artists Training Seminar, y en Northwestern University. Durante su carrera ha recibido numerosos premios, entre ellos: semifinalista en el Concurso Nacional de Canto Carlo Morelli (2006), 1er lugar en la categoría de postgrado del NATS Chicago Chapter (2009), 1er lugar en el concurso Evanston Music Club (2010) y el concurso Opera Idol de Evanston, IL. Como corista profesional, ha participado con el coro de la Ópera de San Diego, el Grant Park Music Festival, el coro del Lyric Opera, y fue miembro del prestigioso coro de la Sinfónica de Chicago del año 2011 al 2017.
Por medio de su voz le ha dado vida a piezas antigüas de la Nueva España apoyando así su resurgimiento a través de recitales y grabaciones (Al Combate), así como apoyándo en las presentaciones de la Chicago Arts Orchestra. En Noviembre del 2012, tuvo el privilegio de presentar este mismo repertorio en el 3er Festival de Música Virreinal de la Catedral de Durango, organizado por el Instituto de Cultura del Estado de Durango. En Noviembre del 2017, interpretó éstas mismas piezas en la Catedral Metropolitana y en la Sala Nezahualcóyotl de la Universidad Autónoma de México (UNAM) para el XV Aniversario del Seminario de Música en la Nueva España y el México Independiente (Musicat).
A ejercido como maestra de canto por más de 15 años, y el día de hoy ejerce como maestra de canto en la Universidad Nazarena de Point Loma y radica en la ciudad de San Diego junto a su esposo y sus hijos.
